VILLAGE PEOPLE
Join us for another FREE Friday night concert on the river with Village People!
Village People is the greatest disco group in the world. Their music is part of the international songbook. The debut album, released in 1977, featured the hit singles
“San Francisco (You Got Me)” and “In Hollywood (Everybody’s A Star).”
Village People at that time however was simply Victor Willis with use of session singers. Eventually a group of guys were assembled around him to perform on American Bandstand. Thus began the creation of Village People.
Over the years, various renditions of Village People (for purposes of live performances) consistently toured the world since the mid-1980s with use of various replacement lead singers, and characters.
The group has sold over 100 million records worldwide. In 2020, YMCA was inducted to the Library of Congress, National Recording Registry and in 2022 into the Grammy Hally of Fame. In 2021, the group lodged two top 10 hits, “Magic Christmas” and “If You Believe.” Village People continue to perform to sold-out audiences worldwide.
OPENER: ELI & THE MOJO KINGS
Lambie is the leader of, “Eli Lambie and the Mojo Kings,” a band that includes as many as eight musicians each show, and that’s because Eli, now 27 years old and an educator in Marshall County, wasn’t raised on the music of the 1990s or early 2000s. Instead, it’s the tunes from the 60’s, 70’s, and the 80’s.
Since then, not only has he composed symphonies and performed with orchestras, but now Lambie educates as many as 400 Marshall County children each day at Washington Lands Elementary School.
Eli Lambie and the Mojo Kings made its debut in 2019 and since have played festivals, riverfront shows, weddings, and concerts at Centre Market, Oglebay, and Heritage Port.
